JEWELL RADIMISIS JORGE LLP. Provides Free Bike Helmets to 275 Children

JEWELL RADIMISIS JORGE LLP,along with Access Rehab and Rage Against the Disease, sponsored the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Bike Helmet Distribution event on April 1, 2016. Nearly 300 elementary school children received brand new helmets for biking. The successful event was covered by multiple media sources, including CIRV Radio and CTV News, and was held at St. Matthew’s Catholic School.

Two members of the Rage Against the Disease bike team reveled the surprise to the excited students, while 15 Toronto Police Service members volunteered and helped all fit their new helmets. Law enforcement also spent time teach these kids who to adequately fit and wear the helmets.

By law, it’s mandatory for every cyclist under 18 years old to wear a helmet, while those who are under 16 years old needs to have a parent or guardian make sure they are wearing them. Helmets have been proven to greatly reduce the risk of brain and head injuries, preventing concussions and potentially even death. Studies have shown that helmet use reduces head injury risk by over 80%.

For 15 years, the OTLA Bike Helmet Campaign has donated more than $22,000 in bicycle helmets. Our Toronto personal injury attorneys are grateful for all the support and assistance from Unit Commander Scott Weidmark, PC Peter De Quintal, Inspector Stroble, Staff Sergeant Hildred, the Toronto Police Service, MPP Cristina Martins and her constituents to making this year’s event a superb success in promoting bicycle-riding safety tips and teaching these children how to practice safer biking habits.
