After graduating from Toronto’s Osgoode Hall Law School, Paul R. Jewell, founding partner, began his legal career in 1960, and has continued to create landmark decisions in personal injury cases. In 1971 he went to the Supreme Court of Canada and progressively changed our Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

  • Paul also secured the highest award obtained from a jury in Canada in Sikora v. Rioux, [1975] 1 S.C.R. 115.
  • Paul leads in the presentation of demonstrative evidence to juries in Shipman v. Antoniadis (1975), 8 O.R. (2d) 449 (C.A.).
  • More recently, he secured the highest award ever obtained in Canada for a Family Law Act claim for the death of a 14 year old boy in an accident in school in To v. The Toronto (City) Board of Education (2001), 55 O.R. (3d) 641 (C.A.).
  • Paul was the founding Partner at JEWELL RADIMISIS JORGE LLP. He, unfortunately, passed away on September 26, 2015. His memory and legacy will continue on and will continue to grow in his honor.

Accolades and Recognitions

In 1974, Paul was granted the title of Queen’s Counsel (One of Her Majesty’s Counsel learned in the law). He has also maintained certification as a Specialist in Civil Litigation from the Law Society of Upper Canada since 1989.

Teaching, Publications, and Symposiums

Paul Jewell had served 15 years as part-time faculty of the Bar Admission Course, teaching Civil Litigation to graduated lawyers. In both Canada and the United States, he has presented papers and conducted symposiums with multiple organizations, including the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Division, the Advocates Society of Ontario, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. He was also one of the founding members of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.
